Sub-floor no More

Hey there!  Have you missed me?  I have been working on a new project around here. Those of you not thoroughly fascinated by my never-ending home remodel may want to skip this post. Mom, keep reading.

WARNING:  PHOTO INTENSIVE POST!

Well many of you may have noticed (ha!) that we have had sub-floor throughout half of our main level (and the stairs going up and the stairs going down) for about a year now  Trust me it was better than that god-forsaken white carpet that was there before.

Good News: We are finally putting in the floors.

We bought the wood a few months ago and it has been curing in my office --because it is too cold in the garage.  The wood is regular 1x6 pine from the lumber yard.  We will distress it with an axe and tools, then apply stain and poly.  We are experts by now : )

Anyway, yesterday afternoon Matt, Chase and I took everything out of the "princess suite" (the room so-named by Matt-- that is a bedroom turned my dressing room) and Chase's room. Matt also removed all the trim.

Here's how it all looks right now.

While it was pretty cool before, I have plans to transform this into the over the top palace that I deserve.   Hey,  Matt has his garage, I can have my dressing room (oh and my huge office and my gigantic laundry/craft room. No wonder I never want to leave my house).

Unfortunately, all that stuff that from those two rooms is now here.

Today Matt and Chase are laying the floor. I made this breakfast first thing as a small bribe gesture of love.

Homemade chocolate donuts AND bacon? Yes please.

Matt built this workstation on the front porch yesterday.

Murphy is getting involved as well. He finds vacuums and baby strollers equally offensive. He spends the better part of every day being on  "stroller patrol" or waiting for someone to vacuum. He likes to sound the alert when he sees a stroller being pushed down our quiet street. His command post is his little perch on the back of the couch in front of the window on the second floor. Great vantage point.

Today he is letting  the shop-vac know who is boss.

Matt is starting work  in the hall area. Chase is removing the trim along the set of stairs that are going down to the first floor. I painted the hall area knowing that we were close to ripping the trim out. That's why there is paint all over it. This is the view from my office looking up.

This is looking down.

The first board goes down.

Here is a shot going up to our bedroom from the main level.

Once we have the stairs sanded and stained, we are going to install jute stair runners down both set of stairs. We will get to that one of these days : )

It's gonna be a long weekend. I hope you are doing something fun!
