EDISON NJ– Singer Phoebe Snow, best known for her 1975 hit “Poetry Man” died Tuesday at a hospital in Edison New Jersey.
Snow died of complications from a stroke suffered last year and had been in a coma since January 2010, according to her manager.
Snow released her self-titled debut album in 1974 and earned a Grammy nomination as best new artist. Though she continued to release albums over the years, she chose to put her family first after her daughter was born with severe brain damage. Snow performed at the Woodstock 25th anniversary festival in 1994.
Born Phoebe Ann Laub, she grew up in Teaneck New Jersey.
Snow is survived by her sister, Julie Laub, and an uncle, Bob Laub.
