Max Osterweis & Erin Fetherston at Style.com’s Party for Tales of Endearment’s Natalie Joos… Style.com has the inside scoop:

On a blistering Wednesday night at Jimmy, the rooftop bar of the James hotel, Style.com and Natalie Joos celebrated the relaunch of her Tales of Endearment blog and the beginning of a new collaboration. (In the coming weeks, Style.com will be featuring some of Joos’ “muses,” the well-dressed fashion insiders like Giovanna BattagliaAnnabelle Dexter-Jones, and Fabiola Beracasa who share their vintage finds on her site). Not surprisingly, two things were on guests’ minds: the temperature and the vintage dress code. The 90-degree heat didn’t have many fans, but the stylish crowd—a mix of designers like Maria CornejoWaris Ahluwalia, and newly minted CFDA Swarowski Award winner Prabal Gurung and artists and musicians like Maxwell Snow, Salem’s Jack Donoghue, and Sky Ferreira—was more than happy to trot out their old-school Muglers, Margielas, and Megadeth tees.

“I wore vintage,” Bibhu Mohapatra said as he pointed to his lightweight white tunic. “This is like seven years old.” While his interpretation of the term was a loose one, it was a perfect answer to the scorching weather. Joos, in her 1960’s Jacques Cassia maxi dress, almost found another way to cool off as she teetered near the pool while posing with Dexter-Jones.

“I’m just waiting for someone to fall in,” one guest said as he took in the scene. His prayers were semi-answered when model Jamie Strachan cannon-balled in for a quick dip. “Was that me?” he asked. “No, that didn’t happen.” Well, according to the hotel’s implacable security guards, it did. They escorted Strachan from the premises, his model girlfriend Behati Prinsloo following behind with her drenched beau’s shoes in hand.

Never fear, both Strachan and Prinsloo resurfaced at the after-party at the Jane hotel, where the evening’s spirit of collaboration continued. When Style.com’s editor in chief, Dirk Standen, and BLK DNM’s Johan Lindeberg realized they were both hosting parties on the same night (BLK DNM’s was to toast the label’s Aleksandra Woroniecka-edited in-house Gazette), they immediately decided to team up for a joint late-night shindig in the Jane’s bar. Kirsten Dunst, Dree HemingwayChina Chow, Dan Colen, Nate Lowman, and Olivier Theyskens were spotted amid the rowdy crowd of revelers. We’re fairly confident that if the hotel had an indoor pool, everyone would have jumped in by the end of the night.

This skirt is beautiful, and teaches you a lot about mitosis, too.
